Those who phased (have at least 80% gpa and passed PT test) such as myself, we get to wear civis (civilian clothes.anything not an army uniform) after 1800 and dont have to be back until 2030 for bunk check. On weekends we get on post passes and can go anywhere on post, but we must stay in uniform. we cannot have our cell phones on us during what is called POI (period of instruction) time, which is when the 1st SGT calls "Fall in" at 0515 until we are released at 1800ish. Well it changes with each phase where blue phase you have the most freedom.Īt AIT, there is phase 4, 5, and depending how long, 5+įor Phase 4 there is little freedom during the week. At basic you pretty much have no freedom. I guess the grass is always greener and we all agree the military kind of sucks, lol.įuck yeah. To be honest, I look over at the navy and air force trainees and kind if wish I joined their branch, but they tell us they look at us and wish they joined the Army. It's mostly emergency medicine, but it will put you in a good spot to pursue nursing. I think thats like 2 weeks or so.īasically being a 68w is a foundation for a medical carreer. Many people in my company have below a 60% because it's so much material in a short amount of time.Īfter the EMT portion, we learn a bit of clinical stuff, like how to treat patients in a clinical setting. I.e 9ish hour days in class M-F running on very little sleep. I would highly suggest taking the NREMT course before you enlist since learning it here is very hard as it's taught really fast. Be aware the pass rate for challengers is roughly 1% since the NR way tends to be a lot different than the state way.Īlso, rumor has it you can also go in with some rank as an NREMT. If you're state certified, then you can "challenge" the NREMT. If you are already an NREMT, you can "fast track" and go straight to the Whiskey side. They go somewhere else to finish up the other part of their training.not entirely sure on that.Īs for Army training, BCT is 11 weeks and 68W AIT is another 16. They do the NREMT portion here and not sure what else, but they are more clinical. Not sure about Air Force, but I hear Navy is split up. They live in dorms and have full weekend passes whereas the Army are still in barracks (we were supposed to be in the dorms, but that fell through and it sucks) and have a 2200 cerfew. They both seem to have it a hell of a lot easier here than us Army suckers in terms of freedoms and autonomy.
