R.I.P: Stephen Dunham, the man who played Doug Nelson (Alex’s father) in the movie, suffered a heart attack on his birthday (12th of last month) and passed away. Apparently it’s a teaser to their upcoming Latino spin-off series. The man gets freaked out and dashes out of the stores. A creepy old lady appears and starts saying something in Latin. Post-credit scene: Looks like a video recorded in a foreign country where a man walks into a store that has a statue of Jesus Christ and some sort of a witchcraft shrine in the back room. Second opinion: “No feel, this time” (Iris Loong who was hiding behind her scarf most of the time while watching). The producers wouldn’t care ’cause they’re still earning from gullible fans and thus already planned for another sequel set to be released next year this month. The only goodie on this film is hot teen lead actress Kathryn Newton, who has turned me and apparently many others into her pedophile. Not only it lacks of unpredictable scares and a satisfying ending, it also suffers the same issues the previous instalments have from fake scenes on the trailer to illogical human behaviour. Verdict: As I had already said on my review on the previous instalment, a sequel would probably be repetitive and it turns out that it was an understatement ’cause Paranormal Activity 4 is extremely boring and surprisingly more mild compared to all of its predecessors, making it the worst one of the franchise. Synopsis: “It has been five years since the disappearance of Katie and Hunter, and a suburban family witness strange events in their neighborhood when a woman and a mysterious child move in” (UIP). Genre: Supernatural horror, found footageĬast: Katie Featherston, Kathryn Newton and Matt Shively
